CREATING INNOVATION: Do the creative industries support innovation in the
wider economy? Friday March 28th, 11am-12.45pm
On Friday March 28th, NESTA is holding a seminar to explore the policy
implications of its recent research report Creating Innovation: do the
creative industries support innovation in the wider economy? The seminar
will commence at 11am and will be followed by an informal networking lunch
at 12.45pm.
The report presents evidence that supply chain linkages to the creative
industries are positively related to innovation elsewhere in the economy,
suggesting that the creative industries may play a more important role in
the UK's ecology of innovation than has been recognised to date. What does
this mean for creative industries and innovation policy? Do policymakers
need to reconsider the frameworks on which they base creative industries
and innovation policy? Are there examples where policy has succesfully
supported linkages between creative businesses and firms in sectors
traditionally seen as 'non-creative'?
So as to leave time for focussed discussion we are restricting numbers
overall to a limited group. I would be most grateful if you could confirm
whether you can attend by Monday March 17th to allow us to plan for numbers.
