dear all
sorry if my use of this mailing list sound inappropriate... but I am looking for some help and information
my brother is affected by Stargardt syndrome (it is a form of macular degeneration which causes very low vision- it cannot be cured up to now), and besides this he is in a wheelchair, as I myself am, because of a non-diagnosed (meaning that doctors have no clue) genetic illness, unfortunately though very similar to a muscular dystrophy. degenerative neuromuscular disease, let's say that
anyway, I am looking for some help for my brother. he seems suddenly not to cope with his disabilities anymore, especially with his visual one, which is causing him lots of social and emotional distress
any ideas on support groups I can find? on forums on multiple disabilities? or again, on devices for coping with low vision?
we live in Italy, by the way, so it would be great if there were something in our country too...
suggestions on good books or "self-help" materials would be also appreciated
thanks for your attention
best regards,
maddalena botta
