RNIB South West are again running our day-course entitled Transcription - Using a PC to provide blind and partially sighted people with accessible information
An intermediate level course presenting the opportunity to learn and practise the basic methods by which inaccessible information can be transcribed, using a personal computer, into formats that are accessible to blind and partially sighted people.
Course contents
1. What is an accessible format?
2. Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software
3. Producing clear print, large print, Braille, and DAISY documents
4. Dealing with PDF documents
5. Hands-on experience - using specialist software and computers
6. Question and Answer session - bring along specific queries
We cover methods for using everyday software applications more effectively and also look at specialist tools such as Dolphin's Easy Converter.
