I guess the feature is currently generic and the display of the Hn and
sidechain N attached Hs is very handy for e.g. 2D homonuclear spectra etc.
As you say, it would be useful to have task-specific cell displays in some
cases, although even with HCCH-TOCSY, you may find that completing your
assignment is helped by simultaneous consideration of the 3D NOESYs, in
which case the N attached proton strips would come into their own again.
