The Department of Air Transport at Cranfield University is one of Europe’s
leading centres for research and teaching in Air Transport Management. The
Department offers five taught Masters programmes, a PhD research programme
and continuing professional development courses. It also conducts industry-
focused research and consultancy for clients throughout the air transport
industry. Its areas of specialism include aircraft finance and economics,
low cost carriers, airport planning and operations and safety and accident
investigation. Recent high-profile clients have included the European
Commission, Amadeus, Hochtief, Aena, bmi, Flybe and the Australian
Transport Safety Bureau.
The Department is looking for a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer with expertise in
quantitative methods to join its team. The Department is recognised
throughout the World for high-quality, industry-relevant teaching, research
and consultancy. You will teach at postgraduate level and supervise
research projects, as well as making a significant contribution to the wide-
ranging research and consulting activities of the Department.
Job Purpose
To design and deliver lectures and tutorials as part of the taught MSc
programmes and Continuing Professional Development short courses, and to
provide supervision for MSc and PhD research theses.
The post holder will also be expected to actively seek new opportunities
for, and support existing research and consultancy within the field of air
transport management / operations. This will involve both individual and
team working and is expected to lead to high-quality reports and
publications in approved research journals.
For appointment at the Senior Lectureship level, the candidate would also
be expected to develop, plan and lead the delivery of research programmes
and to develop techniques and sources of funding in order to sustain and
support a research activity.
