PhD studentship at City University London (October 2005)
Quality of life in patients with glaucoma
Glaucoma is a leading cause of irreversible visual impairment. Little is known about how the disease impacts on patient's quality of life, certainly in the early stages of the disease. The aim of this PhD project is to analyse detailed responses from around 600 patients in a current multi-centre trial and relate these responses to clinical tests. We also aim to model the risk of falls or driving accidents using multi-level models and undergo qualitative research in a small group of the cohort.
This PhD would suit someone with an interest in applied or social statistics.
The stipend is £13.5K and fees would be covered for UK or EU applicants. The student would join an active, lively and multi-disciplinary research team based in the Measurement Techniques in Vision Laboratory at City and will also work with colleagues at Moorfields Eye Hospital.
The deadline for applications is imminent (March 14th 2008) and informal enquires are strongly encouraged.
