This is a great opportunity for a candidate who is looking to kick starts 
their GIS career. SeaRoc UK are Marine and Engineering Specialists to the 
rapidly developing Renewable Energy Sector.

We are seeking a GIS Technician reporting to the GIS Manager, this would 
be ideal for a candidate with 1-2 years experience; the candidate will be 
an adaptable and proficient GIS technician that can take on a variety of 
projects. 

The ideal candidate will be a problem solver by nature and have experience 
of executing GIS mapping and analysis using ArcGIS.

The candidate should have good computer operating skills; ideally you will 
also have a qualification in Geography, GIS or a related subject. You will 
be working both in a team environment and individually on set tasks and be 
expected to meet high delivery and quality targets.


Main Objective of Post

Renewable energy GIS database and mapping developments using ESRI ArcGIS 
software
Day to Day tasks will involve:
	Coordinate systems & projections
	File formats & data conversion
	Geo-referencing base maps
	Modelling physical constraints
	Plotting coordinates locations
	Running graphic queries
	Identification of anomalies in data
	Professional cartographic output 
	Digital terrain models
	Analysis and assessment


Main Tasks and Responsibilities
You will be required to retrieve information from an existing database and 
manipulate this to populate the new GIS. The ideal candidate will be 
accurate and methodical in their approach as well as having experience of 
ArcGIS.

Essential skills;
Experience of implementing mapping and analysis in ArcGIS 9.2
Sound Knowledge of MS Office software, in particular MS Excel and MS Access

Desirable; 
Experience of programming in Visual Basic or Python
Good Access Database skills
AutoCAD familiarity
