Hi Bryan,
The International Book of Dyslexia, by Ian Smythe and John Everatt lists
53 countries around the world and their different
views/recognition/support of Dyslexia.
I have found this book a great reference tool which provides a snapshot
of different attitudes and cultural perceptions of Dyslexia.
In Japan there is actually a Dyslexia Association, but dyslexia is not
as widely recognised as it is in the UK.
Thanks for the Disabled Peoples International Website.
Kind regards,

Subject: International Attitudes to Disability
Hello. Our team have just met with our Study Abroad Team and they asked
if there is any guidance out there on attitudes towards disability in
different countries - eg I understand that there is no recognition of
dyslexia in Japan (apologies if this is wrong!).
Could anyone point me to any material on this? I have Googled this and
only come up with either specific countries or specific conditions. Also
Disabled Peoples International which looks interesting (
http://www.dpi.org/ ).
Thanks,
Bryan
