John, my spreadsheet takes the three "angular measurement to the three
chosen reference points" and calculates the position.
Having calculated the position, it's basic trig to find the distance to
the reference points. But why would anyone want to know this distance if
you could just be told the point on the plan to plot the object using
Eastings and Northings.
Isn't it easier just to say where the object is on the plan, rather than
say how far it is away from three reference points? Or is it normal to
use a compass to measure out a distance on a sheet of paper.
Or am I missing something?
