The Institute for Transport Studies invites applications for the
following studentships:
Doctoral Training Award (DTA) Studentships
Applications are invited to apply for the above studentships to commence
study September/October 2008.
The research project will be in one of the following subject areas
although individually tailored research proposals will also be
considered:
* Transport Policy and Traffic Congestion
* The effect of external distraction on driving behaviour
* Mathematical Modelling of Transport Networks
* Economic Modelling of Travel Choice
* Life Cycle Impacts of Transport Biofuels Under UK Conditions

ESRC Masters + PhD (1+3) and PhD (+3) Studentships in Transport
Economics or Transport Planning/Environment
In recognition of its commitment to leading edge inter-disciplinary
research, the Institute for Transport Studies (ITS) has been awarded
five quota allocation ESRC studentships to fill from September 2008 to
September 2010. The first studentship being available from September
2008 with a further two available 2009 and the final two in 2010.
The studentships applies to either PhD training only (+3 award), or a
combined Masters and PhD training (1+3 award). While the Masters
training recognition is in the areas of Transport Planning & Environment

Economics <http://www.its.leeds.ac.uk/pgcourses/mate.php> , for PhD
research this encompasses a wide range of approaches and methods,
incorporating most application areas of transport analysis, as well as
being attractive to those from the full range of disciplines supported
by ESRC, including social science, economics and psychology. For
