The Second London Rare Book School (LRBS) 

30 June-4 July, 14 July-18 July 2008

 

Booking is now open for the second LRBS which will be run by the
Institute of English Studies, University of London (based at the Senate
House complex in the heart of Bloomsbury). The LRBS offers intensive,
five-day postgraduate-level courses in book history and related subjects
which can be taken for credit and thus used to build a postgraduate
certificate or diploma, or an MA qualification. Courses will use the
resources of, among others, the British Library, Senate House Library,
the V&A, and the British Museum.

 

Twelve courses are being offered, six in each week:

The Printed Book in Europe 1455-2000

The History of Maps and Mapping

An Introduction to Bibliography

Children's Books

 

14 July-18 July

 

The Early Modern Book in England: Exploring the Evidence

Modern Literary Manuscripts

Bookbinding Decoration

Modern First Editions

Mapping Land & Sea before 1800

Publishing Today

 
All courses have a maximum of twelve places to ensure students have
close contact with the tutors and with the rare books they are studying.
