Hello all
Thanks for the comments on my last posting on rehab programmes, it
certainly raised some points. the first being that maybe research needs
doing!
I have recently started an an OH practitioner with an academic institute
which employs lecturers and runs courses for teachers. (I like a
challenge!!!)
I have the OH guidance on fitness to teach from 2000, has this been
updated?
Am I right to assume the phrase teacher and lecturer are interchangable-
so the fitness to teach guidance applies to both?
In relation to initial teacher training, the guidance suggests an OHN
looks at the pre course health questionnaire and passes it to a medical
adviser...does anyone do this?
the section advising on teachers in schools...
"the following procedure should be adopted :
the applicant complete a questionnaire which is reviewed by the medical
adviser
the medical adviser, with the individuals written consent should request a
copy of the individuals written OH record from te medical adviser for the
previous employer or the training institute".
and as I have not yet had a request for OH records pertaining to teacher
training, I wondered what others do out there?
Also if anyone knows of a local OH contact/group in the academic setting
based in Leeds/Bradford/Harrogate areas i would be grateful of contact off
list.
Jacqui
