Hello everyone,
Thanks again to everyone who answered by previous query (about
guides/publications and leaflets); it was all very useful information and I
have just finished that piece of work.
I now have another query. I have found some relevant material in the
archive but wondered if I may throw this open to everyone:
I will be assuming responsibility for Visit Days and Open Days here at
Keele. I am not sure how these are organised elsewhere, but a visit day is
for people comparing institutions and courses. I will probably observe as
much as 'do' for the one that's just coming up, but I'd like to think ahead
and perhaps create something a bit different - and fairly quickly (to be
held on 24th Feb).
So, can I ask:
Has anyone found a particular way of timetabling library events within the
day particularly helpful; the library is open all day and it seems people
come in as and when? The library's on three levels. It's a separate IT
service, but they are housed in the library building.
What kinds of things are of interest to prospective undergraduates? I have
read on earlier messages that various kinds of electronic access is what
interests them; how has this been conveyed? Also, how do you interest both
parents and students?
Are displays effective, and if so, what have they contained?
Has anyone developed any kind of interactive tutorial? We have a VLE.
Anything else that has worked, for the event and marketing (facebook,
freebies, etc etc).
What's the best way to use staff (there will be counter staff on the day?).
And finally ... any quick and effective evaluation methods - what did you
ask, and in what format (I am thinking of a postcard with two closed
questions and an open one).
I will summarise replies.
Many thanks, in advance,
Rachel Gick
