Dear all,
Aalborg University Library invites you to the conference Learning,
Innovation and the Use of Information, 1st – 2nd April, 2008. The
conference will take place at Aalborg University Library, Aalborg
University, Denmark.
The conference focuses on the current need for development of study
programmes and teaching methods in higher and further education to meet the
current expectations and demands, by companies and institutions, for
candidates who are skilled to engage in innovative and creative processes.
The conference aims at establishing networks across sectors, and to serve
as inspiration for the set up of new innovative scenarios.
Our keynote speakers will elaborate on the theme and introduce us to the
latest methods and research:
1st – 4th Order Knowledge, Learning and Information
Lars Qvortrup’s keynote will present his theory of the different orders of
knowledge and learning, and come up with suggestions as to how information
can function as inputs to 1st – 4th order learning.
Learning in the 21st Century
Professor Carol C. Kuhlthau takes an integrated approach to teaching
curriculum content, information literacy, and strategies for learning. She
will talk about some of the vital tools for educators to create
collaborative environments where students experience school learning and
real life meshed in integral ways.
Information Literacy: Re-focussing on learning in the electronic environment
Sharon Markless will speak about problems with traditional information
literacy models when supporting learning – especially in an e-environment -
and the importance of student construction in learning and the role of
context in that process (task focus, variation theory, timely
interventions, mediation, collaborative learning).
The Important Role of Diversity in Innovation
Innovation advisor, Susanne Justesen, Ph.d., will speak on how innovation
is really about combining knowledge and insights that have not been
previously combined in new and valuable ways. The innovation process should
be characterised by a high degree of knowledge diversity among the people
involved. Yet, too many organisations seem unaware of the importance of
diversity in innovation.
The conference is directed at persons working in higher and further
education, the library sector, and in companies and organisations that are
interested in development and innovation in higher education.
Conference language is English.
Deadline for registration is 1 March 2008.
