Hmm, few more Q's is this a temporary move with renting out of your BC place
or a move away with possibility of permanence.
Vald'isere is v nice and has also 6 weeks of activity in the summer but the
in between times are rather ghostly. Chamonix probably best mirror's the
environment you've become used to and even in the 'muddy seasons' its an
active town, schools there are OK housing is similar in pricing to SE
England. Buying property in France makes the UK look simple, and start
opening your French current account v early, it takes months. If you can
prove recent visits and intention to move I'd chat with Britline an arm of
Credit Agricole as you can open with them while non-resident and then once
resident reconsider things. (DOI nearly bought in Les Houches last year,
currently moving in UK but I expect we'll be back walking the North and
South Balcony routes in the Summer (and house hunting))
