Fully-funded four-year PhD Scholarships
As a member of the School of Languages, Literatures and Cultural Studies,
the Department of Germanic Studies at Trinity College Dublin is part of
the Long Room Hub, Trinity College’s Research Institute for the Arts and
Humanities, which received funding of 10.78m Euro under the Irish
Government’s Programme for Research in Third Level Institutions (PRTLI) in

As part of the PRTLI programme, a consortium encompassing Trinity College,
University College Galway, and University College Cork have developed a
four-year funded (fees and maintenance award) PhD scheme, Texts, Contexts
and Cultures (TCC). Students wishing to undertake projects in any of the
Arts and Humanities disciplines grouped together in the Long Room Hub may
apply, and there is no restriction on nationality. Texts, Contexts and
Cultures is a four-year programme to take account of the elements of
research and skills training (taught courses, seminars, work placements)
included. The actual PhD research topic is however entirely open (subject
to suitable supervisor expertise being available). Further information on
the Texts, Contexts and Cultures programme can be found at:
www.textscontextscultures.ie
