anyone know of good resources to use working with primary age children around disability equality? it's individual work to start with, and with a non-disabled child, although my hope is that this might change later...
i'm working with a non-disabled primary age child around understanding of disability issues within their family and thinking about how to do this in a way which is age appropriate, meets the needs of the family and services (medical model, but not totally, so the door could be opened to introduce another perspective), AND encompasses Disability Equality perspectives.
so far the ideas from services i work with are to use their materials (impairment specific), for the child to tell other children about their family etc etc ... I'm thinking about doing something that might open the door for wider disability equality training in the school, just need to tread carefully in order to forge links ...
any recommendations for materials suitable for individual work for primary age children would be great...
thanks in advance for any help...
julia
