Archives Assistant - 2 Year Contract
£15,153 - £16,217 per annum
37 hours per week
Record Office, County Hall, Worcester
The Record Office is seeking to offer a 2-year Archive Assistant post,
which would be ideally suitable for graduates wishing to gain relevant
experience prior to undertaking a postgraduate qualification in archives
or records management. The postholder will work within the team at the
Corporate Information Management Unit helping to deliver a records
management and filing service to County Council Directorates, you will
also have the opportunity for work shadowing in the public branches of
Worcestershire Record Office. The post will offer experience of the full
range of records management duties, including service desk, answering
filing queries and maintaining filing systems, both paper and electronic.
You will also be helping to promote the records management service across
the County Council, and will be offered the opportunity to assist with
review and appraisal of records. You should be literate and numerate and
be confident with IT. Experience of working in an office environment will
be an advantage, as will familiarity with the workings and structures of
local government. An ability to lift boxes, some of which can be heavy, is
also required, although Manual Handling training will be provided. Above
all, however, you need to have good team skills, and be able to relate
well to your colleagues and users and have a good customer service ethos.
