Professor in biostatistics
The Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Southern Denmark invites
applications for a professorship in biostatistics at the Research Unit of
Biostatistics, Institute of Public Health, University of Southern Denmark.
The Faculty of Health Sciences is one of five faculties at the University
of Southern Denmark and consists of the Institute of Medical Biology, the
Institute of Public Health, the Clinical Institute, the Regional Institute
of Health Services Research, the Institute of Forensic Medicine, the
Institute of Sports Sciences and Clinical Biomechanics, and The National
Institute of Public Health.
Research:
The research environment in biostatistics at the Faculty of Health Sciences
includes the Research Unit of Biostatistics (5 senior faculty positions)
and the math-stat group of 3 mathematical statisticians from Institute of
Mathematics and Computer science. The Research Unit is engaged in
statistics in the context of epidemiological, clinical and health
promotional research. In particular, methodological aspects of aging
studies, twin- and family studies, fertility and human reproduction, human
micro array expression, evaluation of clinical interventions, translational
medicine, pharmaceutics, proteomics, health promotion and sports sciences.
In general, multiple environments for fruitful collaborative research are
present and the unit is represented in national as well as international
research programmes.
The successful candidate sustains an independent programme of
biostatistical or statistical research, demonstrates excellent skills in
collaborative research and has experience in teaching biostatistics.
The search is open to all fields of specialization, although there is
particular interest in individuals with expertise in research related to
design and evaluation of interventions in clinical and/or public health
settings.
The new professor will be expected to engage in collaborative research
within health sciences, and to contribute to the consulting services.
Teaching and supervision:
Appointees will be expected to teach and supervise on postgraduate (PhD) as
well as on pre-graduate study programmes at the Faculty of Health Sciences.
