May I enquire of the list. Now that we provide many PTH estimations on
patients, mostly elderly for orthopedic, rheumatological, or osteoporotic
assessments we produce many elevated results. These people predominantly
have normal to low adjusted calcium values. As part of their work up they
then have calcium/creatinine clearance test presumably to differentiate 1-
PTHism from BFHH. Can we assume that the urine test is a waste of time
and possibly misleading unless applied to patient with measureable
hypercalcemia?
