Dear All
Interesting discussion - I wonder if people have considered the
distinction between 'spirits' and 'deities' -
magicians may have doubts about the external existence of gods whilst
having no such doubts about spirits.
This distinction is very ancient. For example in ancient Egyptian
religion (of the folk) the gods were often seen as quite
fearful, troublesome things that lived in the temples and were best
avoided. Spirits were unavoidable.
'Prayer' is IMO another magical activitity -
and is often used by magicians and pagans - see for example Jan
Fries/Visual Magick.
