REMINDER - OPPORTUNITY FOR A SENIOR STATISTICIAN
£30,000 - £40,000 for the Senior Statistician or Research Director
(depending on skills and experience)
The Survey Methods Unit at the National Centre for Social Research is
looking to recruit a Senior Statistician to work on the design and analysis
of social surveys. The post would involve work in the areas of sampling
design, weighting, methodological experimentation, evaluation and general
survey design. There will also be opportunities for teaching.
Candidates for the post would be expected to have a degree in statistics,
social statistics or a closely related discipline and/or Chartered
Statistician status, and relevant professional experience of survey
statistics. This includes experience gained in academia, government, public
sector, voluntary sector or market research settings. Candidates would also
be expected to be familiar with SPSS, Stata or a similar statistical package.
The post is based at the National Centre for Social Research’s head office
in London EC1. The successful candidate will join a team of five
Statisticians in the Survey Methods Unit. The Unit provides advice and
support to the quantitative research teams at the National Centre for
Social Research, mainly for survey design and analysis. In addition, the
Unit undertakes original methodological research and disseminates good
practice and research findings in the field of survey methods.

and reporting of social research in a wide range of subject areas,

crime and social attitudes. Some projects are commissioned while others are
