Didn't notice a cfengine problem, but I might have missed it.
I solved the general problem by simply adding the missing character
to the macros file and copying the fixed version to all the nodes.
If you don't want to do that there is a new version of the package
with the fix in it, but it seems to be being held up by mirror
problems. You can grab it directly from here though:
