Hi all
I too was very interested to read of Amanda's class exercise.
Does anyone else have or know of any other examples of design research
methodologies influenced by Foucault's work or the governmentality literature?
In my own research I will be using Foucauldian discourse analysis to look at
visual identities developed for local governments here in Australia. So far
I have some excellent examples of this approach being used in other fields
(particularly analysis of media coverage), but I would be very grateful for
any design related examples. I am also interested in other methodological
approaches for visual analysis.
I was very interested to hear about your research, Bo. My topic is away from
yours I know, but still it is interesting to hear of similar approaches
being used in design research. This book may offer you some useful
alternative approaches for discourse analysis: 'Qualitative Data Analysis'
(2006) by Carol Grbich.
