The work of Rosalind Paget, born 1855, was significant in the UK's move towards professionalisation of midwifery. Find a summary of her life (and a picture) at the Iolanthe Midwifery Trust site http://www.iolanthe.org/awards_DRP.html. An annual award from the Iolanthe Trust still commemorates her work not only as a midwife but also as a trained masseuse who began the professionalisation of physiotherapists too.

Hello!
As a part of my PhD thesis about the professionalization of midwifery, I would also like to mention history of midwifery and famous midwives that were of great importance for the development of the profession. I'm aware of the Agnodice, but I do not know any others. Can you help me? Is there also a picture of them?
Best wishes,
Polona, midwife from Slovenia
