medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
I have no comment on the essay on traumwerk concerning Suger. I'd
just like to point out that the opening image is NOT the construction
of a cathedral, as the author states, but rather the construction of
the Jerusalem Temple, as presented in Jean Fouquet's illumination of
Joespheus' _Antiquities_. (It looks at first glance like a gothic
church---but then, "reconstructions' of the Temple have often
reflected the age in which they have been produced!!) If you want to
check this image out in the most available public place (you can also
check a poster vendor!) go to Wikipedia. Here is the ref. to the
