Call for Chapters
Media and Climate Change
Editors: Tammy Boyce, Justin Lewis, Cardiff School of Journalism, Media and Cultural Studies
Deadline for submission of Proposals: 29th February 2008.
This book aims to analyse the media and climate change using a range of contributors (academics
from a range of backgrounds,journalists and science communicators). We are interested in texts
covering the production, content and reception of climate change. This collection seeks to bring
together accounts of the latest media coverage, practical activities and research in the field and
to set new directions in research.
Indicative topics:
In addition to the topics listed below we are keen to receive fresh and
innovative approaches and areas. This may include:
● Balance in covering climate change;
● Science journalists versus general news correspondents;
● Non-news factual coverage;
● Fictional coverage;
● The evolution of coverage;
● Climate change coverage around the world (examples of best practice);
● Communicating uncertainty;
● The role of non-governmental organisations and the non-state sector.
Submission Details
The language of the book is English. All chapters must be original,
unpublished, and not currently under review by any other publication or
conference.
The book is to be published by Peter Lang.
