Most of the journals I receive are wrapped in plastic but some are in
envelopes.
Personally I'd much rather they were delivered in envelopes. They are
recyclable (in more ways than one) and generally less wasteful. Of course
it's because if they are wrapped in plastic they are waterproof but even
from just a few journals my bin has piles of plastic that is totally
uncalled for.
Either way I can't say I've ever had any damaged. If they are it's not
because of being wet or the envelope/plastic being ripped but because of
the way they are shoved in big sacks with various other post, odd shaped
boxes etc. I have dealt with journals that have no wrappers in the past
and under the same situation (being delivered in sacks) they do get
damaged. Funnily enough not so much through normal post at home though.
