The Department of Geology at the University of Maryland College Park has
funding to support a postdoctoral research fellow starting January 2008.
The funded project is to investigate 3D melt distribution in synthetic,
partially molten aggregates and natural mafic crystalline rocks. This
project is a collaboration between the University of Maryland and the
Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution. Depending on her/his strength and
expertise, the successful candidate is encouraged to integrate
experimental, microstructural, and computational approaches to study
melting and melt transport processes in Earth’s upper mantle and lower
crust. The initial appointment is for 12 months with a possibility for
