Band 2 Principal Epidemiologist/Statistician
The salary range for this post is £40,282 to £51,540. Starting salary will
be closely related to both the scientific and broader experience of the
successful candidate.

The epidemiologists/statisticians in the Statistics Branch of the Health
and Safety Executive (HSE) play a crucial role in the development of
evidence based policy on the health and wellbeing of workers in Britain. As
the lead providers of statistical (including epidemiological) expertise to
HSE, the Statistics Branch works with other analysts to provide robust
evidence to inform the development of policy and interventions for
preventing work-related illness and sickness absence.
Use your epidemiological expertise alongside about 40 other people in
Statistics Branch, working in close association with other social
researchers, to investigate work-related hazards and risks and to apply
your research and that of others to improving the health of people at work.
Your work will need to meet the exacting standards set by National
Statistics.
For this post you should have strong interpersonal skills and have a First
or Upper Second Class Honours degree, or a postgraduate degree (or
equivalent), in a Social Science discipline with formal training in social
research methods, including epidemiology, and project management
experience. You should also have experience that will allow you to support,
motivate and manage your team to achieve high quality results, while
meeting challenging deadlines.
