Call for Review Papers for Sociology of Health & Illness
Do you want to write a Review Paper for SHI?
Review Papers are a new and exciting feature of the journal. Review Papers will provide a state-of-the-art overview of the literature and we anticipate these papers will provide valuable summaries for both teaching and research purposes. The Editors of Sociology of Health & Illness are therefore seeking short (one-page) proposals from authors who would like to write reviews of either established or emerging areas in the field of the Sociology of Health & Illness.
What is a SHI Review Paper?
The review must be comprehensive, up-to-date, and be based on empirical and theoretical research. It should critically analyse and synthesise the available literature. Seminal work should be identified and endorsed or challenged. It should be well structured, develop a logical argument, and be a pleasure to read. Ways in which the area could be developed in future research should be outlined. In summary, Review Papers evaluate the progress of research in clarifying a sociological problem and recommend potentially fruitful avenues of empirical, methodological, and theoretical work for approaching this question.
How do I proceed?
Proposals should be sent to the Review Papers Editor (Steven Wainwright: [log in to unmask]). Review Papers, of 8000 words, will be submitted via Manuscript Central, and will be peer reviewed in the usual way.
