What about walling, or alternatively hauling for 'alling'?

Subject: archaic building trade terms
Dear colleagues
I wonder if anyone can help?
One of our volunteers is transcribing a builder's day book of 1793.
Quantities of nails seem to be measured in 'hon'ds', obviously an
abbreviation for some sort of measure. We've checked all the sources we
can think of without success.
Also occurring in the book is the term 'alling', some sort of work for
which a workman is being paid. Again, we can't find out what this is.
Any suggestions?
