There are also two other problems that tend to come up on OS X (although I'm running 7.4, not 7.5, so I can't be sure about what you are getting). One problem is that folks sometimes just drag the updated folders into the SPM folder. This causes problems because the update has the same folder structure as the SPM installation but only the files that have been updated. So if the folder originally had ten files and only one was updated, then after dragging the update folder over and replacing the folder, now there is only the one new file in the folder and the other nine unchanged files have been deleted. This comes up with OS X because the archiving program usually used by OS X users (stuffit expander) doesn't take care of incremental updates for you.
The other thing that has come up in the past is that stuffit expander was corrupting the tar files. I don't know if the current one still has that problem (and I don't know which version you are using). Anyway, I would check the SPM archives. There have been postings on alternatives to stuffit expander.
Anyway, I can say that I've been using SPM5 on a G5 Mac and matlab 7.4 without any problems.
Cheers!
Joe

Hi Amy,
Try recompiling the mex files using the Makefile in the spm5/src
directory.
Instructions are here:

hope this helps,
Greig
