Reading the wiki, there are two conventions, the Berne convention:

the original biggie and the Universal Copyright Convention, the one
which Joe references below. The UCC *isn't* the Berne convention,
although it had me fooled for a bit; it was developed by, amongst
others, the Soviets, who thought the Berne convention benefited those
pesky capitalists. The wiki has a paragraph here:

The UCC looks to be redundant, according to the article.
