Thanks to you both,

question

I agree that most relevant exhibitors will be at BETT. Whether that is a
good forum for viewing is another matter entirely, as it is so
unremittingly hectic. ("Needle in haystack" springs to mind!)

Far better I would say to get recommendations and ask for demo software
that you can examine at your leisure.

(But why restrict yourself to IWB? This is already obsolescent IMHO -
what do other people think?)

For school use I would recommend that you look at

* " TEEM - Advice and guidance that teachers trust - First in the field
of educational software evaluation"

* the subject-teacher associations (ASE/ATM/NCETM etc.)

There are two specific companies that I will mention too. (Statement of
interest: I have worked for these and also for NCETM above, and have
been a member of ASE and ATM)

* Google on "edplace" and "estarters"

Perhaps GEM could develop advice on software suitable for museums?

JOHN BIBBY (I'll be going to BETT - despite the treck from York!)

Call me if I can help further - 01904-330334

A trip from Hartlepool to London to visit BETT in the new year might be
quite a trek, but worthwhile I think. There are no end of software
vendors there that would have something to offer to their target
audience, whatever that is.

Cheers, Jeremy

Subject: educational software question

Hi all,

We have been given a budget to spend specifically on software to
accompany our new interactive whiteboard and for use on 6 laptops in our
new computer suite. The computers already have the standard office
programmes and photoshop on them, but I was wondering if anyone could
suggest or recommend other software that may be useful for education
use. If there are any examples we should steer clear of then that would
be good to know too!

Thanks, and a Merry Christmas!
Kate
