What is really rather dispiriting in reading this message is that we DID
have an online hustings!
It took place on the CILIP Communities, and was announced on LIS-PROFESSION
in a posting: "Get involved with the CILIP Elections" on 12th November.
Did people miss this posting? Or decide it was too much trouble to log on
and check it out? Most of those eventually elected were very active during
the online hustings, and very disappointed that they did not result in a
higher turnout...

I agree in principle, but the reality is that unless you already know
the candidates, it is quite hard to make an informed vote on the fairly
short and sometimes rather bland candidates' statements.
Perhaps we could have some kind of online hustings: members are invited
to post questions for the candidates to answer?
