Developer working on the FEDORA project at the National Library of 
Wales. Please circulate to any individuals who may be interested. The

Development Programmer – Digital Asset Management System (DAMS)

Band 3: £18,616 - £24,426

Fixed term post until 31 December 2008

The Library is currently implementing the VITAL Digital Asset Management 
System (DAMS), which is based on the open source FEDORA system 
(http://www.fedora-commons.org/). The post holder will assist in the
development of ingest and dissemination functionality for FEDORA as well 
as development of a CD Accession System. A working knowledge of Java, 
XML, XSL, and Linux are essential and knowledge of PHP, Perl, CSS,
Tomcat, Apache, MySQL and SOAP would be considered an advantage. It 
would also be advantageous to have knowledge and / or experience of 
METS, OAIS and Digital Library Technologies.

The successful candidate will have a good degree in computing or a 
related subject or recent relevant experience. The ability to work 
effectively as part of a small team of technical staff is essential and 
the ability to communicate in both Welsh and English is desirable. There 
will be a requirement to work on an occasional Saturday.
