University Lecturership (Non-Tutorial Fellow) in German Linguistics
Salary scale £39,159 to £52,628 p.a.
The University in association with St Hilda’s College proposes to
appoint a University Lecturer in German Linguistics in the Faculty of
Medieval and Modern Languages from 1 October 2008 or as soon as possible
thereafter. The post is associated with a Supernumerary (Non-Tutorial)
Fellowship at St Hilda’s College.
The successful candidate should have a research record of international
standing appropriate to the stage of the candidate’s career with
evidence of or, exceptionally, evidence of potential for producing,
distinguished research in the field of German linguistics. Preference
may be given to a specialist in the field of socio-linguistics but
candidates in all areas of linguistic study are invited to apply. Early
career applicants should show outstanding research potential.
Candidates should be able to contribute to the teaching of German
linguistics at all levels of the undergraduate degree, and to
participate in graduate courses and supervision.
Candidates should have an excellent knowledge of German and must be
sufficiently proficient in English to carry out teaching, writing and
administration in that language.
