Vacancy: Head of IDMC
The Geneva-based Internal Displacement Monitoring Centre (IDMC) of the
Norwegian Refugee Council is looking for a new Head to lead its efforts to
improve national and international responses to internal displacement.

Responsibilities Reporting to the NRC Resident Representative in Geneva, the
Head of IDMC will be responsible for
- providing leadership and vision in developing the overall IDMC strategy and
priorities;
- representing the Centre externally and effectively communicating its advocacy
messages in relevant forums;
- leading its fundraising efforts;
- managing the Centre on a day-to-day basis;
- overseeing the development of its annual appeal, budget and workplan;
- supervising and directing administrative support staff.
Qualifications
IDMC is looking for an experienced manager and strategic leader with at a
minimum of ten years of experience working in the humanitarian or related
field. Specific experience in the area of forced migration, excellent
knowledge of the international human rights and humanitarian system, a
strong advocacy background, and field experience related to internal
displacement will be considered strong assets. Research experience is
desirable. Candidates must have strong leadership skills, and several
years of experience in managing staff and programmes. Fluency in English,
and excellent oral and written communication skills are essential.

The salary offered is in the range of approximately 100,000-115,000 CHF
annually, subject to taxation and social deductions.

support the Centre’s monitoring and advocacy activities. IDMC is the
leading international body monitoring conflict-induced internal

Description:
Within the IDMC’s communications department, the Database/Web Assistant
will assist the Centre with entering information into the online IDP
database; maintaining and developing the website, including quality-
control tasks such as fixing broken links; updating distribution lists;
preparing, formatting and publishing country reports and other documents;
providing administrative and logistical support for the IDMC’s advocacy
activities; providing support for technical/IT-related issues; and other
assigned tasks.
Qualifications:
Candidates must be self motivated, extremely well-organized, team-
spirited, and able to work under pressure and handle numerous tasks
simultaneously. Strong interest in forced migration issues is a must; a
relevant first-level University degree and/or relevant practical
experience is desirable. The candidate must have solid
office/administration experience, demonstrated organisational skills, and
excellent computer skills. Outstanding oral and written communications
skills in English are essential. Working knowledge of French is required.
