There is a danger here in believing all that is read without the context
being provided. The UK press are famed for only telling the part of the
story that sells advertising. It would not do well for Sky to say...
And by the way the two sets of details are totally unconnected and there
is no way of matching them......
Normally, being the last to protect such silly breaches, I suggest that
we should be asking "were the witness details of old identity and new
identity linked on the discs?"
If so then we can really go for it.
Incidentally, the data may be held because of the need to identify
previous tax and national insurance payment/liabilities - although this
in itself would be a tad silly. I, for one, will watch with interest.

Why does HM customs and revenue need this very sensitive information? I
thought Witness Protection information should be guarded with the
highest amount of security. Why does a lowly member of that
organisation have access to such sensitive info?
The only things certain in life are death and taxes, the government
seems to have brought them closer together.
