My understanding that photosensitive epilepsy was only triggered by the
refresh rate of older screens and that this was something that had 'gone
away' with modern flat screens?

However, epilepsy.org.uk has much useful information - see above

Subject: Photosensitive Epilepsy
Dear All,
I am about to start working with at student who says that she cannot use
a computer screen because of photosensitive epilepsy. I was thinking
about using JAWS with her - but that can be difficult to use. I was
also thinking of trying and Alphasmart. I just wondered if anyone else
had come across anything similar and had any suggestions?
Thanks
