As the centre of scientific excellence for the MOD, Dstl carries out vital research projects in order to protect the public from the threat of chemical biological, radiological and nuclear (CBRN) threats. There is currently an exciting opportunity for you to be part of this crucial research effort.
Expect a wide challenge. As part of our Mathematical Modelling team, you’ll deploy your statistical expertise to solve complex research problems in the areas of Bayesian inference and the design and analysis of computer experiments. Through effective problem solving and teamwork you will help to develop the underpinning science for one of MOD’s key enabling capabilities.
Confident and capable, you’ll be someone who’s applied statistical techniques to complex scientific problems already. Equipped with a degree – and ideally a PhD – in either Statistics or Mathematics, you’ll have strong experience of Bayesian techniques and/or the design and analysis of computer experiments. Highly self-motivated, you will be able to define new directions for research areas and to explore novel solutions to existing problems.
