Bodysurf Scotland in partnership with videodance.org.uk presents:
Opensource:{video-dance} 2007
Bulletin Three
We would like to invite you to our second symposium at the Universal
Hall Arts Centre, Findhorn Foundation Community, Scotland from 20th –
24th November 2007. Opensource: {Videodance} 2007 is an open
symposium for artists, academics, curators and producers coming
together, to share ideas and work.
Who should come?
We have been asked who is the symposium for? If you make work
involving dance on screen, or are thinking about this for the future,
if you write about such work or programme, fund or curate work then
this is for you. Some really interesting and key individuals from the
sector are coming to Findhorn and the symposium allows plenty of time
for people to meet, talk and get to know each other. You may never
get another chance like this!
OSVD 2006 feedback
“A massive, deeply felt thank you; to everyone who was there, but
here especially to Katrina, Simon and Karl for sticking their necks
out, in several ways.”
“the value of this event to me and my work is immense, and I hope
that I will be able to give as much as possible of everything I
gained back.”
“fab! Being fed so well was a real bonus, underpinning the conference
with a large organisation that supported what we were doing.”
“Fantastic - very well cared for - A big thank you for concocting
such an occasion. The 3 of you glided in and out of your varying
roles with grace and ease. I feel very lucky to have been part of it
and am curious to see things unfold.”
“very very good. Still dreaming of the food!”
“Hope you are all pleased with what you created - I think you have a
huge achievement to be proud of.”
“This created new, positive experiences that will stay with me. The
wider location was stunning for me. The bay, village, pub, sea, sand
dunes, wildlife etc. I could come for longer & enjoy the event at
leisure. Thank you again, you did a wonderful thing. “
“The event has been an extraordinary personal and professional
journey for me. Thank you to all who made the effort to be here and
do such valuable work. It's a privilege to have been part of making
it happen.”

Knowledge Mapping
Prof. Tom Inns' research at the University of Dundee, explores the
role design has to play in making better sense of how ideas are
formed and realised. One tool he has developed is a process called
Knowledge Mapping. This can help to visualise what can otherwise be
hidden processes by acting as a facilitator of thought. Tom describes
Knowledge Mapping pinning open your brain like a dissection to allow
others to see what’s going on. So this is what we plan to do one
morning.
Please let us know if you would like to join us at Findhorn in
November 2007. We look forward to hearing from you. With kind
regards, Karl Jay-Lewin, Katrina McPherson and Simon Fildes
