Here at the University of York, we are looking at changing the
classification for our growing DVD and video collection. We were wondering
whether anyone had any advice on what has worked for them regarding this,
including any changes that have been made to cataloguing practices. We use
Dewey for classifying books and are particularly interested in anyone who
has successfully transferred this to A/V resources. Or is there a new fix-
all classification that has been developed?
We are also interested in how people treat CDs - where do you store them
and how do you tag them? For example, has anyone had complaints about the
effects of tags on CD players?
Finally, we are looking at creating an overall strategy looking towards the
future of our treatment of A/V resources, and would love to see any
examples that other institutions might have of similar strategies.
Any advice and help you can give would be much appreciated.
