CARRLANDS
I’m pleased to announce the launch of my research project Carrlands.
Carrlands takes the form of three hour-long sound-works in twelve movements inspired by, and
created for, the valley of the River Ancholme in North Lincolnshire. The works weave together
spoken text and music and have been developed in collaboration with composer John Hardy.
They are available for free download at http://www.carrlands.org.uk
The main ambition of the project is that the sound-works will be accessed by the listener at
specific sites in the valley and recommended walks are included on the website. There is a facility
for feedback and I’d welcome your responses.
Carrlands is supported by a smaller research grant from the AHRC ‘Landscape and Environment’
strategic programme and further extends themes from In Comes I: Performance, Memory and
Landscape, 2006, Exeter, Exeter University Press.
If you would like to order versions on CD or require further details please contact me at
