I have worked in counselling and community psychology fields for over 15
years. My association with community psychology began as I sought ways to
improve my counselling practice and in particular address my
dissatisfaction and concern with how clients were understood, talked about
and related to in therapy and group settings. This led to study with the
Community Psychology Team at Waikato University, Aotearoa, NZ.
My interests include processes of building social capital; well-being of
children and young people in particularly orphans; discursive and
collaborative practices; transition and settlement process in relation to
sense of community; and developing community psychology in Asia in
particularly China.
In regard to this last point I would love to hear from anyone with
information about community psychology and China.
I have been living in China for two years with my family. I have three
sons 15, 11, & 3. I have many relatives and friends in the UK, my mothers
family hail from Oldam which I know is not far from MMU, whose Community
Psychology Programme I am familiar with.
I recently joined the list so thought I'd introduce myself rather than be
a complete voyeur. I can't say I will be posting often but find the
conversations interesting and helpful at times.
Would love to hear of any reflections, associations or research regarding
China or Chinese communities in the UK.
