Dr Mark Goodhall Sweet and savage: a morphology of the mondo film
This paper give a general introduction to the notorious 'mondo' or
'shockumentary' film. It discusses the etymology of 'mondo' and the
problematic development of the (sub) genre in relation to film history.
The various tropes of the mondo film are outlined and discussed before a
suitable methodology for analysing such cult films is proposed.
The presentation is illustrated with rare clips.
