Here is the latest Mass Observation news...
WALES OBSERVED
The four part series, Wales Observed, starts this week on Radio Wales. The
programme focuses on the diaries of four Welsh Mass Observers. The first
episode looks at the day to day life of a young woman from West Cross in
1937.
Wales Observed begins this Sunday, 18 November at 12.30pm and is repeated
on Friday, 23 November at 9.30pm on Radio Wales. It will also be available
online: www.bbc.co.uk/wales/radiowales.
NELLA LAST'S WAR ON 'A GOOD READ'
Nella Last's War will be featured on Radio 4's 'A Good Read' at 4.30pm on
Tuesday, 20 November and repeated at 11pm Saturday, 24 November. It will

DR TANYA EVANS ON 'WOMAN'S HOUR'
Mass Observation researcher and author of Unfortunate Objects: Lone Mothers
in Eighteenth-Century London (Palgrave, 2005), Dr Tanya Evans, will be
interviewed on Woman's Hour next week. Dr Evans will be discussing The
Women's Library's current exhibition, 'Sinners, Scroungers, Saints', and
her own research on lone motherhood. The interview will be aired on
Wednesday, 21 November and will be available on Radio 4's listen again:

RECORDING LEISURE LIVES: HISTORIES, ARCHIVES & MEMORIES OF LEISURE IN 20TH
CENTURY BRITAIN
A one day conference on 18 March 2008 hosted by the University of Bolton in
association with Bolton Museum and Archive Service will explore how leisure
practices have been recorded, archived and understood in 20th century

SUMMER 2007 DIRECTIVE: 'Shopping and making a difference' & 'You and Your
Gardens'
The Summer 2007 directive is now ready for research. Mass Observers were
asked their thoughts on ethical shopping and gardening. The responses can
be consulted by making an appointment to visit us in the Special
Collections department of the Library at the University of Sussex. More
