Subject: [data-protection] Police investigation & personal data
A member of staff at my organisation has been involved in an incident
with a member of the public which became the subject of a police
investigation into an alleged assault. In the end, no charges were
brought and the matter came to a successful conclusion. However, the
police officer involved has asked for the date of birth of the relevant
employee to top and tail the paperwork.
I presume we can release this information to the police because of the
nature of the investigation? Can anyone clarify this please?
Thanks.
Ciaran
