Dear Colleagues,
As part of the Archive Awareness Campaign 2007 the National Co-operative
Archive, the Labour Archive and Study Centre (PHM), the Working Class
Movement Library and the Bishopsgate Library and Institute have collaborated
on an online exhibition charting the politicisation of women.
Entitled 'From Kitchen Table to Conference Table' it can be viewed at
www.politicalwomen.org.uk. The exhibit uses case studies of women/groups who
feature in the collections of one or more of the contributing organisations.
If you would like a copy of the poster please contact me at
[log in to unmask] (as the list does not like my attachment!).
Case studies featured are as follows:
Annie Besant, a problematical feminist
Margaret Llewelyn Davies and the Women's Co-operative Guild
Annie Kenney, women's fight for the vote
Women the vote and labour 1906-1918
Women Clerks and Secretaries, equal pay for equal work and the cost of
living 1922
Caroline Selina Ganley, activist and participator
Women at work, a pictorial history
Women and the miners' strike 1984-1985
We hope you enjoy browsing the exhibit and would be grateful if you passed
on the details to any interested uses etc.
Kind regards,
Karyn Stuckey
Assistant Archivist
